Skills-based hiring is on the rise, and degrees and credentials are increasingly discounted in the hiring process. Here are three ways to leverage your education and credentials in a skills-based recruitment environment:1. Just because you learned a skill in school or because you were not paid to perform it does not discount the skill. Inventory all of your skills that YOU paid to learn and be sure to speak to these confidently on your resume and in an interview.2. Convert your degree(s), certifications, and licenses into actionable, observable skills. Include these when you talk about yourself.3. Master the skills you learned in obtaining your degree or credentials. You cannot rely soley on the fact that you finished. You must be able to apply the skills.Go to michaelfuselier.com to start a conversation about emerging workforce trends.

We couldn't agree more. DEI work has never been about creating unfair advantages for some--it's about eliminating unfair advantages to create a truly level playing field where everyone has a chance to compete. In fact, hundreds of organizations worldwide have taken our ParityPLEDGE in that very spirit. By taking the pledge, they are committing to simply INTERVIEWING a diverse slate of candidates for any open leadership role. No HIRING expectations or quotas, just an interview--i.e. an opportunity to be considered. And the results are nothing short of transformative. 💡WHY DOES IT WORK?💡Women and people of color tend to be significantly underrepresented on most candidate slates, due to unconscious bias, sourcing in the wrong places, and other factors (e.g. hiring managers recruiting people who are already known to them, for expediency) that are wholly unrelated to the talent, desire, and expertise of those underrepresented groups. AND IF THEY'RE NOT IN THE RUNNING, THEY CAN'T WIN. But when companies simply slow down and become more intentional and proactive about diversifying their interview pools, they frequently find that the "best person for the job" is in fact one of those previously unexplored candidates!Visit parity.org to learn more or take the ParityPLEDGE.Mark Cuban

All the best for your talk Niven Postma 💫While employees seek places of inclusivity, alignment to their values and opportunities where they can bring their best versions of themselves to work, organizations who will stand out will be those who implement effective strategies, tools, processes & policies that enhance employee engagement, improve employee sentiment, Increase retention, elevate recruitment and revolutionize reward. So much to say on each of these areas but for now, let's just says its a win win when both sides gets what they want 😉#recruitment #talentmanagement #leadershipdevelopment

This survey from Visier Inc. is consistent with the conversations I am having with younger people. They look at what the job of a people manager entails, and are saying "no thanks." People managers are getting crushed from above and below. It's time to re-evaluate how we get work done. Liked this post?
