G-Eazy is an American rapper, record, producer, and actor born on May 24, 1989. He started his career in 2006 and independently released two studio albums before signing with RCA Records. His third album “These Things Happen” (2014) reached number three on the US Billboard 200 chart. Gerald Earl Gillum also known as G-Eazy was born on May 24, 1989. He grew up in a family where his dad Edward Gillum taught art at California State University Fresno and his mom Suzanne Olmsted was an artist and professor. He’s named after his mom’s dad. Gerald has a younger brother named James who’s also into music.
When Gerald was in first grade his parents split and he went to live with his grandparents in Berkeley California. He attended Berkeley High School and later they moved to North Oakland but he kept going to school in Berkeley. Gerald went to Loyola University New Orleans and earned his BA in music industry studies in 2011.
Career
G-Eazy started his career as a record producer while studying at Loyola University in New Orleans. He gained early recognition in the East Bay Area hip-hop scene collaborating with artists like Lil B Crohn and The Cataracs. He was part of a local group called “The Bay Boyz” and released music on Myspace.
In 2008, G-Eazy faced a tough crowd at a college talent show but caught the attention of Matt Bauerschmidt who signed him to The Revels Group a new music management company.
